Admission requirements for PHD In Medical Microbiology

Admission requirements

Candidates

  • Graduates from a recognized University with a degree of MSc in Medical Microbiology, Clinical Microbiology, Public Health Microbiology, Immunology, Infectious and Tropical Diseases, Medical Parasitology, Clinical Chemistry, Immunohematology/Clinical Hematology with medical lab background, Labboratory Management and Quality Assurance, Applied Microbiology, Veterinary Microbiology, Medical Doctors with MSc/Specialty, and Medical Biotechnology. However, except candidates with an MSc degree in Medical Microbiology, Clinical Microbiology and Public Health Microbiology, all the other candidates must register and take Advanced Bacteriology, Advanced Virology and Advanced Mycology MSc courses and qualify with a minimum grade of “B” Moreover, the student should complete the prerequisit course before starting the actual PhD works. The applicant must meet all of the admission requirements of the University of Gondar.
  • Applicants should fulfill the following documents to the registrar during application
    • Application letter
    • Research synopsis
    • Two letters of recommendations from senior academic or research advisors
    • An official letter for sponsorship from government and in country registerd NGOs Official transcripts from all previously attended institutions of higher learning
    • Hard copy of original articles published on reputable journals
    • Curriculum vitae

Graduation requirements

  • Each prospective graduate candidate should score a minimum of cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 points (with no “C+” and less grade in any subject of the program).
  • It is expected that fulfilling the criteria for a PhD dissertation writing and subsequent successful defending of the work.

After satisfactory completion of the program, the candidate will be awarded a Doctoral Degree that shall be named:

In English:    Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Microbiology.
